The mixing blades perform a complex movement relative to several axes of the concrete mixer, while one or more axes move in a circle relative to the central axis.

The blades move along complex circular trajectories, which causes the components of the mixture to collide in oncoming flows. This makes it possible to obtain good homogeneity when mixing small volumes of finely dispersed components into the main volume of the mixture (for example, when adding dyes).

To supply water to the concrete mixer body, a pipeline system is used, which may have one or more mixture irrigation points.

The concrete mixer is equipped with a skip for supplying inert materials. The skip winch is two-speed: lifting speed – 0.25 m/s, lowering speed of an empty skip – 0.5 m/s. This reduces wear on the skip rope. The skip drum consists of two parts located on opposite sides of the guides. In case of cable wear, cable break sensors are provided, which turn off the winch in the event of an emergency.

However, when producing super-hard concrete mixtures, which contain components with different bulk densities, planetary mixers will perform worse than twin-shaft concrete mixers. This is explained by the fact that the blades move in a horizontal plane, which leads to the stratification of such a mixture. Light and large particles “float” under the influence of gravity, which is clearly visible in the production of super-rigid mixtures based on expanded clay, sawdust, mixtures for fiber-reinforced concrete and polystyrene concrete. For the production of such mixtures, it is recommended to use twin-shaft concrete mixers.
