The BT-120 packaged bitumen melting terminal is designed for receiving packaged bitumen, heating and melting, storage in a bitumen storage and shipment of bitumen in bulk.

Heating and melting of bitumen in smelters and bitumen storage facilities is carried out using the circulation of thermal oil supplied by the TEPLO KTM thermal oil boiler.

Bitumen storage

Heating of bitumen is provided in two stages:

– in bitumen smelters up to the temperature of in-plant transportation (90...140 °C)

– in bitumen storage facilities BKh-45 up to the temperature of shipment to external transport (140...160 °C)

When the bitumen temperature in bitumen smelters reaches the required values, the product is pumped out into tanks.

Heating of bitumen in BH-45 tanks is carried out by thermal oil through closed registers, heated in a KTM-0.5 thermal oil boiler.

Heating thermal oil

Thermal oil heated in the KTM-0.5 by a circulation pump is supplied to a closed circulation loop, as well as for heating in the satellite pipelines of the corresponding sections of the bitumen pipeline.

Filling the system with oil before starting operation, as well as adding it if the level decreases during operation, is provided by the pump (recharge pump) of the SZM-1 (0.6) stations from portable containers or from a container for storing and emergency collection of thermal oil with a volume of 3 cubic meters.

Bitumen shipment

The shipment of bitumen from the terminal is provided by loading through a console at one loading station. Bitumen loading column with a dispensing nozzle cross section of DN100.

Heated bitumen is taken to the bitumen shipment temperature from the BKh-45 tanks using a bitumen pump and supplied to the bitumen casting column post.

Filling of tank trucks is carried out visually along the line of the tank of the bitumen truck and using a technical bitumen flow meter, the setting of the shipment volume from which is set from the operator’s cabin.

Before shipment, all bitumen containers are tested in a certified non-destructive testing laboratory
