The ability of bulk materials to flow out of holes in the walls or bottoms of bunkers, machines and apparatus is assessed by fluidity or flow coefficient.

The fluidity of a material depends on a number of factors: both from the geometric parameters and shape of the hopper itself, and from the characteristic properties of the bulk material (particle size, density, coefficient of internal friction, coefficients of friction on solid load-bearing surfaces, angle of repose, humidity, mobility and coherence of particles, etc.).

Poor flow of bulk material is one of the main problems during unloading, leading to slowdowns
and incomplete emptying of the hopper - until the outflow of material completely stops.

One of the most effective technical solutions to the problem of material convergence is is the use of aeration systems. The aeration system is based on the principle of fluidizing the material with compressed air coming out of the aeration nozzles. Air passing through a layer of bulk material “separates” the particles and reduces friction between them, thereby giving the material the properties of a liquid. And thanks to the correct structural arrangement of the aeration jets on the bunker, a vortex-like field of dust-air mass is created, which forces the material to move from the walls to the discharge hole.
